The seminar highlighted the growing environmental and health risks

On Sunday, 8 February 2026, a scientific seminar was held in Hall No. (1) of the Department of Soil and Water. The seminar was delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Chenar Hadi and was titled “The Effect of Plastic on Human Health.”

The seminar highlighted the growing environmental and health risks associated with plastic use, with particular emphasis on plastic pollution, microplastics, and their potential impacts on human health and ecosystems. The discussion emphasized the urgent need for sustainable waste management practices, environmental awareness, and policy interventions to mitigate plastic-related hazards.

This seminar directly contributes to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) by addressing health risks linked to plastic exposure, SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) through promoting sustainable plastic use and waste reduction, SDG 13 (Climate Action) by highlighting the environmental consequences of plastic pollution, and SDG 14 (Life Below Water) due to the impact of plastic waste on aquatic ecosystems.

The event concluded with an interactive discussion, reflecting the department’s commitment to advancing scientific awareness and supporting sustainable development goals through academic and community engagement.
