Carbon credits are vital tools for fighting climate change because they allow countries, companies, and communities to offset emissions, attract investment, and fund sustainable projects like forest preservation and clean energy. They also create economic opportunities, especially for developing nations, while ensuring environmental integrity.
Carbon credits in agriculture are crucial because they reward farmers for adopting sustainable practices that reduce emissions or capture carbon, while also opening new income streams through voluntary and regulated carbon markets. For Iraq and similar regions, they can link orchard management, soil health, and water-saving practices directly to climate finance opportunities.
